This summer the boys have been working on lots of academic courses, while Ada has been exploring arts and nature at camps!
Graham decided to get a couple of "meh" classes out of the way over the summer, so he took Civics and Econ through VLACS. They weren't the most inspiring classes ever, but he did get them over with quickly, even working while recovering from his wisdom teeth removal surgery. He also had some homework for his fall classes in English and History. In addition, Graham has started learning to drive this summer! He's working hard at acquiring this skill, and today we drove to Target and then picked Ada up from Beaver Brook camp.
Earlier in the summer, Simon finished up his AoPS Geometry course (which went through mid-July - what a trooper!), and a coding course that he was taking through Brilliant. Then he started on his fall English homework and brushing up his Algebra II skills to make sure there aren't any gaps before he jumps into Pre-Calc.
Ada has been doing her usual BrainQuest Summer Workbook, but she also spent her afternoons last week at Hollis ArtSpace taking an "under the sea" themed class. She made some awesome artwork! This week she's at Beaver Brook for Backyard Harvest Camp. The kids have been cuddling chickens, walking lambs, and building a wattle fence at Ali's house! She is exhausted at the end of these busy days.
When we're all together, we're still reading The Mona Lisa Vanishes, which we started in Paris, and we work on Talkbox German and French. I am also determined to get Simon through the Civil War before he starts school (and his history class picks up in the Reconstruction era), so the boys are patiently listening to tons of history at Morning Time lately.
